Shrikes are pretty incredible insect catchers. Similar to the Bee-Eaters, they catch insects in flight. Their taste is for larger (and therefore slower) insects, however, and their flight pattern is very different. They're quite beautiful birds themselves. Here we have a frontal portrait of one - resting on a branch and observing the surroundings for potential prey. A minute later he flew away to catch a poor bug in mid-air. Wonderful!
