This White-Throated Kingfisher was giving an impressive display of how to catch food. Here we have a photo just after he returned with a small frog that recently hatched. note the eye contact with the helpless frog....
What do I like about this photo? The impressive situation, with good composition. The eye contact with the helpless frog. The amount of detail. The beautiful colors, with good color contrast between the Kingfisher and the background. The shallow depth of field, with the Kingfisher in focus and the background blurred out, achieved by using an open aperture.
What would I want to improve? The background is still a bit noisy, so maybe an even more open aperture would have helped here (unfortunately that's not an option with the lens I was using).
