| European Roller |
The fields in my area sometimes provide very nice surprised - like this European Roller I spotted the other day. A close relative to the more flashy Lilac-Breasted Roller of Africa, this one doesn't require a flight to get a glimpse of!
What do I like about this photo? There's good amount of detail there (do enlarge the photo to observe). The composition is good, with the diagonal wire and the bird position creating an X, and the bird in the left third of the photo. The sparkle in the eye also adds.
What would I want to improve? A more interesting background (of different color) would have been a huge improvement. Also, a more natural setting instead of a wire would have been a plus.
