| Common Kingfisher Posing |
Arguably the most beautiful of all Kingfishers in Israel, the Common Kingfisher is a tiny bird of breath-taking colors. Here we have one posing on a tree trunk, showing the beautiful orange chest, and the even more impressive sparkling blue head and back, with its huge beak glistening in the sunlight. What a pose!
What do I like about this photo? The beautiful pose, with good color separation between the Kingfisher and the background. The colors are mesmerizing! I used an open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, so the Kingfisher is in focus but the background is blurred out, to create better separation between them. The sparkle in the eye is an added bonus.
What would I want to improve? The background is a bit noisy - I would have liked to blur it out more. I would also want to be closer to get more details.
