White on White

White on White

An interesting example of how little color is actually needed in some cases to make for an interesting and striking photo. Here we have a tiny white butterfly standing on a white flower. The background is green-to-brown. That's it. No more details. No more colors.

What do I like about this photo? How much it does with how little colors. I used an open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, so the Butterfly and the flower are sharp but the background is blurred out. The composition also works here very well, using the rule of thirds both for the flower (right third) and the Butterfly (top third). There's a huge amount of details.

What would I want to improve? Lighting could have been better, preferably with the sun in the back creating some magical lighting effects.
