Green Bee-Eater on a Branch |
Africa has beautiful birds, and a prime example is this Green Bee-Eater. We were not able to get too close, but this little fella really stood out with his incredible colors and "I own this place" attitude. What a nice encounter! Thanks to Estee for sharing this beautiful trip to South Africa with me.
What do I like about this photo? The beautiful bird and the wonderful colors. The shape of the branch really adds to the composition, as well. The glimmer in the eye is great. I used an open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, so the Bee-Eater and the branch are in focus but the background is blurred out. This makes the Bee-Eater and the branch really stand out.
What would I want to improve? I would have liked to blur out the background more (but that was not possible with my equipment and location). More details would also have been nice.
