| Back-Lighted Cosmopolitan on Flower |
Here we have a Cosmopolitan, one of the impressive butterflies going through Israel every year, standing on a white flower. The sun is somewhat behind, so the light is shining through the wings, creating wonderful colors.
What do I like about this photo? The beautiful lighting, as mentioned above. The great pose, and huge amount of details on the butterfly. I used an open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, so the butterfly and the flower are in focus, but the background is blurred out. The background is interesting, as well, with a good color contrast against the butterfly. This all makes the butterfly really stand out.
What would I want to improve? The tips of the wings are a bit out of focus - a more closed aperture would have fixed that, potentially at a cost of making the background more noisy.
