A Trio of Bee-Eaters

A Trio of Bee-Eaters

It's the Bee-Eater season in Israel, and I can't get enough of them. Their amazing flight control is a wonder to behold, with their uncanny ability to catch insects in the air. Simply unbelievable.

Here we have a photo of three of them in flight over a field. They were having a feast!

What do I like about this photo? The pose and composition are out of this world. Catching on in flight in the frame is a challenge. Catching three? I should have a filled the lottery that day... The background is relatively dark, which makes them stand out, and blurred, due to the shallow depth of field I achieved by using an open aperture. They also appear "lighted up" as a result of the light coming from behind and shining through them, against the darker background.

What would I want to improve? The photo is not as sharp as I would have wanted it to be. Seems like focus was a bit off. Also, a natural background would have been preferable to the building in the back. Finally, the tip of the wing of the rightmost Bee-Eater is missing in the frame.
