A Couple of Ladybugs

A Couple of Ladybugs

The other day I was walking around and noticed a huge amount of Ladybugs on some bush. The tiny red spots on the green background were really pretty to behold. This couple especially caught my eye, busily working on the next generation. Good for us - Ladybugs play a very important role in the ecology, feeding off insects that would otherwise overrun lots of plants.

What do I like about this photo? The great pose, with the incredible colors. The color contrast really makes the Ladybugs stand out. I used a relatively open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, blurring out the background. The amount of detail is pretty good, as well.

What would I want to improve? There's a leaf obscuring some features of the bottom Ladybug. A more frontal angle would have been even better, as well.
