White Butterfly on Yellow Flower

White Butterfly on Yellow Flower

Sometimes nature provides art-like scenes which we only need to capture correctly. That was the case with this photo - I was following a Kestrel hunting for food when I noticed a white spot in the corner of my eye. Turning my attention there I saw this beautiful butterfly feeding from the yellow flower with the perfect green background. All I needed to do was adjust my camera and push the trigger!

What do I like about this photo? The colors - the white butterfly with the yellow flower, surrounded by endless green. I used an open aperture (f/6.3 - the most open my lens supports at the focal length of 400mm that I used) to have a shallow depth of field, so the flower and the butterfly are in focus and the background is blurred out. The background was not too far, so the leaves are still visible, adding interest to the photo. There's quite a bit of details on the butterfly and flower, as well.

What would I want to improve? Being closer with another lens would have allowed me to get better details. The tip of one of the antennas is also hidden, unfortunately.
