Common Kestrel in Flight Making Eye Contact

I was observing this beautiful Common Kestrel hunting for food, catching numerous insects and frogs over the better part of an hour. Here we have him right after taking off, staring right into the camera!

What do I like about this photo? The eye contact, obviously, withe the glitter in the eye. The pose is also interesting and very dynamic, with the talons clearly visible (and intimidating), and the wings stretched upwards.

What would I want to improve? The background is a bit dull - some clouds, or, alternatively, greenery, would have upgraded this photo. Also, the amount of details here is not great.
