Western Jackdaw

Western Jackdaw

A close relative of the Raven, the Western Jackdaw is a bit smaller, with blue-tinted eyes and a very intelligent stare. When making eye contact you almost feel like there's a human over there. Here we have one from a low angle of view, snacking on some food it collected.

What do I like about this photo? There's an amazing amount of detail - you can make out individual feathers and really see into his eyes. The color separation between the Jackdaw and the background really makes him stand out, as is the shallow depth of field.

What would I want to improve? Getting even lower would have helped for a more dramatic photo.
