Dreamy Common Moorhen

Dreamy Common Moorhen

The Moorhens are quite common in lakes in Israel. If you get low enough to the water, however, you can produce dreamy-looking photos of them gliding effortlessly though the water. Observe them long enough, and you can see them diving for food, creating beautiful splashes. This photo is of the dreamy variety - the splashes will have to wait for a future date!

What do I like about this photo? The dreamy atmosphere, created by the low angle of view, the relatively still water, and the blurred background. The Moorhen is sharp, but everything else is not, thanks for a shallow depth of field created by an open aperture (f/6.3 - the most open my lens supports at the focal length of 400mm that I used).

What would I want to improve? The Moorhen is not as sharp as I would have liked. Some more details would have also been preferable - if I could only have gotten closer.
