| Cranes over Mount Hermon |
Common Cranes are regular visitors in Israel every winter. This year 57000 of them were counted here! It was a glorious experience to witness these beautiful (and loud) birds in such masses. This photo show them in flight, with Mount Hermon in the background, just after the first snow of the year. There are also two glossy Ibises thrown in, for good measure.
What do I like about this photo? The composition is interesting, with the birds standing out and the mountain providing an interesting background.
What would I want to improve? Visibility was not perfect that day, so the mountain appears a bit hazy. A clearer day would have made the mountain in the background seem more dramatic.
