| Black-Winged Kite in Flight |
One of the most beautiful raptors, the Black-Winged Kite, shown in full glory while in flight. The color combination on this bird is what truly makes it stand out, with the white and black feathers and the red eyes. To me it always looks like a fighter jet. Up until a few years ago, this bird was rarely even seen in Israel. The last few years they've been thriving and even nesting in Israel! Lucky us :)
What do I like about this photo? The pose in flight is aggressive and interesting. The red eyes are visible. There's quite a bit of detail to be seen. I used a fast shutter speed (1/2500 of a second) to freeze the action, so the photo is really sharp.
What would I want to improve? If the bird was a bit closer, I might have been able to get more details. Also, sunlight from the right (or from behind me) would have made the eyes light up more, which would have been huge.
