Bee at Work |
When the sun comes out after a rainy night, all the flowers are covered with droplets of water, and present magnificent opportunities for photos. I was observing the bees happily flying around working tirelessly on the wet flowers. I moved around so the sun was shining through the flower and the bee to get a magical lighting effect, which I particularly like.
What do I like about this photo? Obviously, the lighting. The flower lights up, as do the wings and the outline of the Bees body. The amount of details in this photo is also huge - you can see individual "hairs" on the Bees body and limbs. The background is completely blurred out, so the photo has a nice, clean look to it.
What would I want to improve? I used a medium-closed aperture (f/11) to get more of the frame in focus. In hindsight, I should have gone for an even more closed aperture (f/22, the maximum for my lens) to get the entire body of the Bee in focus. The background was far enough for this not to have presented any issue - the photo would have remained clean enough.
